hi guys newbie darryl here
Im fairly new to this steam stuff and i have purchased a 3" marshall traction engine.
After a little looky over the engine to try and get my head around it i have noticed that when i turn the flywheel by hand and the mechanical water pump starts going the injector makes a gurgling noise like some thing isnt sealing or its sucking in air.
More so when you put the engine in forward.
After inspection there is alot of pressure from the pump and seems to work quite well.
When i turn the valve that is attatched to the boiler ( were the water gets pumped into the boiler ) to the off postion them turn the fly wheel after around 10 turns of the flywheel i open the valve up and there is an escape of pressured air with a hissing noise.
Is this normal???
Any advice would be much appreciated as like i said im a bit of a newbie and very willing to learn from people
thanks
Darryl
