Times and Fees
We are normally open to the public every Sunday from 10h00 until 16h00 (except the Christmas and New Year break) when a diesel profile loco is running for rides. Every 3rd Sunday of the month is our club members open day when members bring their steam locomotives to run.
We occasionally open on other days to the public if we have special events but these will be advertised on the website so keep a check!
During the week we are not open to the public but the facilities may be booked for private parties from Wednesday to Saturday. For private parties go to the parties page and open the party booking form for prices and booking instructions.
We charge R10.00 per person per ride.
There is a tuck shop available for drinks, sweets, fire lighters, matches, club caps, club mugs, club badges etc.
Charcoal is normally on sale for the braaiers (BBQ).
Some History of the club:
Back in January 1961 some like minded gentlemen formed a club called “Pretoria
Live steam Club/Pretoria stoomtrekkragklub” which operated from their garages.
Many years later i.e. 1985 it was announced that a site was made available by
the then, Verwoerdburg Municipality for the enthusiasts to exercise their hobby
and attracting public interest.
The club announced it's official opening as "Meerpark" on 12 June 1993.
The club now known as Centurion Society of Model Engineers boasts an attractive site with a track of just under 900m which trails through a beautiful landscape including tunnels, bridges over lakes and many trees. We have now extended the track to have an alternative loop with a further bridge and diamond crossing for a longer ride and more enjoyable ride. The track consists of multi-gauge ground level track of 3.5", 5" and 7.25" tracks. Perfect for a family outing or picnic.
